Asher's Light'ning McQueen Birthday 5/14/11

This was such a fun Little Boys Lightening McQueen Birthday Party.  Asher had so much fun.  First they all got wooden cars with thier own paint pots to make their own race cars.

Then we played a game I called "Have Fun Fishin' Mater".  I made these Lightening McQueen cars, then I added a stong magnet to each one.  Then I just made one of these Mater's with a long Tow Hook (which was really a grey ribbon) with another strong magnet at the end.  Then we put the Lightenings on the stairs about half way down.  Then I told the kids to throw Mater's tow hook down and fish Lightening out of the Cactus patch.  each kid took turns and they really liked it.

Next we couldn't have a Lightening McQueen Birthday party without a race track.  So we set up an obstacle course for the kids to run through and when they finished crawling through the Lightening McQueen tunnel/tent we gave them a first place Medal.

But the absolute hit of the party and the Birthday Boy was this race track my husband made out of PVC pipe.  He cut two long pieces in half and then screwed them to a 2x4.  I made some Checkered flags to go at the top and bottom and it turned out really cute.  As you can tell by these pictures Asher totally loved it.  The boys raced their cars forever.

For their drinks we saved cans and put a paper wrap around them that said Flo's V8 Cafe, (I didn't get a picture of it) and we had green and purple Kool Aid to refuel our racers.

I don't do cakes very well but my friend lent me this Lightening shaped cake pan and so I made a sheet cake first and frosted it like a desert road and then put the cake pan on top and decorated it.

Happy Birthday our mellow, easy going, happy, boy.  We love you.
