Moriella Turns 5.

This was such a fun Pirate Barbie Birthday Party for a little girl. Moriella came up with this Idea that she wanted a Pirate Barbie Birthday Party. I had no idea what that was but we decided to run with it and it turned out so dang cute. Hear are the invitations. We did a hand drawn map of our yard on the back and a image of a Pirate Barbie I downloaded from the internet on the front with the party info.
I made pink bandanas and a pink pirate eye patch for each girl. The eyepatches I cut out of pink foam and added elastic string and then I found these cute pirate foam stickers to go on top.
Then we needed a map and a pirate flag. I printed a barbie head from the internet again and a liptick and nailpolish. Then I used spray adhesive to put them on our pink flag and tied one edge of it to a stick from my yard. It turned out cute. For the map we just hand drew it on pink butcher paper. Then the map and the clues took them on a scavenger hunt to find the treasure. The treasure was our toy box filled with the Barbie Pirate gift bags and the birthday presents. I didn't get a picture of the Barbie party favors but they had chocolate gold coins, hershey's treasures, a ring pop(like Barbie's ring in the 80's), a kid likstick and nailpolish, and some pirate and Barbie stickers(Pirate Barbie stickers don't exist-for the record).
The treasure hunt went way too fast because the older boys figured the clues out in like a second so we put all the girls in the back of the truck and told them they were marooned on an island.
I hate stuffing kids full of sugar without giving them something healthy to eat first. So for dinner we did chicken drumsticks and grapes and carrots, that they all had to eat with their hands. And if they wanted a napkin they had to say, "Arghh, I be a land lubber." really loudly.
The cake I used blue sprinkles for the ocean and brown sugar for the sand. I found chocolate chunks covered in gold (I found them in the St. Patrick's Day stuff) for the treasure, and made the chest out of cake that I frosted, and of course we added the Barbie Mermaid to sit on our treasure island.
It turned out to be a really fun party and I love that Moriella came up with the idea herself.
She is an amazing girl. We love and admire her so much. Happy 5th Birthday sweetheart. And of course breakfast in bed for her birthday.
