Datan's Utes Game.

Part of the reason I love getting season tickets for my husband is because he always makes it a priority to take the kids to their own game. They get to drive up with Dad then they spend the day at the Children's Museum in SLC and then they go to the game with Dad. It's really good for them and for Chris.

I hate this picture because he looks so big in it. Doesn't he look like he could be a teenager sitting there, with too many worries and not enough time? I started crying the first time I saw it. He used to be my little boy.

Super (Mario) Birthday Party.

Datan wanted a Super Mario Bros. Birthday Party. We weren't sure we were going to do a party at all so a week before we made invites, and barely got them out. (Imust have a new baby or something. :) So I threw it together in a couple of days and Chris says it was my best party ever. Maybe I should always procrastinate.

Here's what we did for the party if anyone else's kid is into Mario. We split all the kids into two teams. Team Mario and Team Luigi. They got hats and mustashes accordingly. We did Mario Kart Races on tricycles, Hot Bomb-Ombs (basically Hot Potatoe with a ball painted to look like a bomb-omb), Save Yoshi's Egg (painted two eggs with green spots and had the kids play the egg on the spoon relay game), Fireball Throw (I hung flat circle like a big coin with a picture of bowser on one side and a goomba on the other then they got to throw a "fireball" which was an orange one of those balls with the wiggly fingers all over it, at the bad guys to get points for their team), but the best idea that I came up with on my own if I might brag for a second, was the Jump for Coins game ( we hung gold chocolate coins from strings on a rope above our trampoline and the kids took turns jumping to get coins. The kids loved it all and we had a really fun time.

Happy Birthday my getting too big boy. We love you.

P.S. Three pictures to note:
He wanted a birthday pie, not a cake (but I did make one up and extra life cupcakes for the kids that do like cake.
I love the Mario Kart picture in the corner if you click on the picture you can see how excited one of the little boys was.
And of course our new family tradition of breakfast in bed.

Pop Pop Steve and Grandma Marsha with Zeke.

My parents came down to meet baby Zeke and help out. My Dad is a total do-er and can't sit still. So while my Mom held the baby my Dad worked in our basement. It was awesome to have them.
